Gelian Belong's practice focuses on plaintiff-side employment cases. His work is driven by a passion for advocating for workers and ensuring they receive fair treatment in the workplace.
Before his legal career, Gelian worked in healthcare, assisting individuals with mental and physical disabilities. This experience, combined with his journey as an immigrant from the Philippines, provides him with a firsthand perspective on the challenges faced by workers. Having witnessed his family's hardships and their experience with workplace discrimination, Gelian understands the crucial need for a strong advocate to uphold workers' rights.
Gelian earned his law degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco, after graduating with honors from the University of California, Riverside with a B.A. in Psychology. During law school, he interned with a tenant-side housing nonprofit and served as a legal counselor with Legal Aid at Work in San Francisco.
Beyond his legal practice, Gelian volunteers as a supervising attorney with Legal Aid at Work and is a member of the California Employment Lawyers Association.
Gelian is fluent in Tagalog and Ilocano.
